Precious Metalworking: Silver & Gold Jewelry
Process
I created these pieces through lost wax casting and soldering. First, I created wax forms of my jewelry, using sculpting wax to create my the pair of hands for my Hand Hug ring and the two hands for my Creation of Adam Set. I attached the tiny hands to a carved wax ring form, which I created, with a gap at the center,
For the Creation of Adam Set, I sculpted wax pieces in the shape of the two hands from Michaelangelo’s The Creation of Adam. I then created a mold of my pieces and proceeded to injected wax into my mold to create multiples that I could cast. From that point onwards, I cast the multiples in Sterling Silver and 14k gold.
I casted the Hand Hug ring in 14k gold as well and polished all the casted pieces using numerous methods. Lastly, I soldered the multiples into their final forms, earrings and a necklace.
